Phase (2023) is an exploratory venture. It is suspended between contrasting states—alive and inert, textured and smooth, organic and geometric. While offering a mere suggestion of the textures intrinsic to this body of work, it appears delicate. The bone like finish is achieved through a rigorous chemical bleaching process, this juxtaposition mirrors the inherent contrast embedded within the piece itself.

The Parity console (2021) is an exploration of the affinity between the beautiful and the grotesque. Inspired by Louise Bourgeois' Spider (Cell) 1997, Sofia wanted to create a piece that draws the viewer's attention, while also making them feel somewhat uncomfortable. Elegant features of the table are situated in close proximity to the more grotesque forms, creating an intriguing contrast and a strong visual presence.

Passionate about the sustainable practice of harvesting timber, Baugh works closely with the Forestry Commission and tree surgeon Dariusz Salarski to source his materials. Garnering his wood in this way, he believes each sculpture's story needs to be told. Whilst viewing wood as a 'nervous system', with ancient connections to human craftsmanship, his aim is to celebrate the uniqueness of nature, whilst preserving its future.
Regarding it as the most natural material, Baugh sees wood as increasingly being recognised as a medium for art, quite simply due to the fact, that everyone can relate to it. However, his own work reflects his quest for authenticity. You have to find your own aesthetics. It's your fingerprint.'One of a kind sculpture
Baugh's work has been exhibited extensively in London and the UK, as well as Europe and Tokyo. Recent events include CasildArt 2024, Miami Basel 2023, Collect 2023, and the International Contemporary Furniture Fair.

This beautifully aged and patinated piece is a study that explores the hidden meanings used in floral gestures during Victorian times. Most notorious for using such coded messages was Oscar Wilde, using the Green Carnation as a way to subtly suggest his preference for the male sex.
